Formal Study NameApical Suspension Repair for Vault Prolapse in a Three-Arm Randomized Trial Design
Primary Principal InvestigatorDeborah Myers
ASPiRe is a three-armed surgical trial, which aims to determine the most effective surgical treatment for post- hysterectomy vaginal vault prolapse. Participants will be randomized to one of three treatments including a native tissue repair, sacral colpopexy, or transvaginal mesh. Participants will be blinded to the surgery they receive, until after the operation is complete. Participation lasts three to five years.

You may be eligible to participate if you are a woman 21 years or older with vaginal vault prolapse after a hysterectomy looking for surgical treatment.
You may receive up to $950 to partially cover your personal time and expenses related to study participation.
What will I be asked to do?
If you are eligible, you will be asked to come into your doctor's office for approximately 13 visits over the next five years. At these visits, exams will be performed and you will be asked to fill out questionnaires. You will also be randomized into one of three surgical options, and you will not know which surgery was performed until right after the operation.
