Lynn Finocchiaro, LICSW, a clinical social worker in the Department of Social Services at Women & Infants Hospital, has been appointed to the Rhode Island Board of Social Work Examiners by Governor Lincoln D. Chafee. Finocchiaro, of North Kingstown, has worked at Women & Infants for 26 years. She currently provides services on the Antenatal Care Unit and in the Center for Reproduction and Infertility.

The Board of Social Work Examiners acts in an advisory capacity to the Department of Health and its director in all matters pertaining to the practice of the social work profession. The Board is responsible for the review and approval of applications for initial licensure, the formulation of rules and regulations pertaining to the practice of social work, and for the overall exercise of disciplinary authority over those professionals regulated under the statute.

The Board, and the Department of Health, strives to assure that only the highest quality care and services are delivered to the consumer. It is the mission of the Board to ensure that only qualified individuals enter the regulated profession, that the care and services which these individuals provide are within the standard of practice of the profession, and that they maintain their professional competence through continuing education activities if required by statute.
