Christine Foley, MD, is a surgeon who started the minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) program at Women & Infants Hospital.
"Women & Infants Hospital is one of the premier academic institutions in the United States that is offering women comprehensive care. My goal, starting the MIGS program is to elevate that level of care, to offer complex surgical treatment of benign diseases,"said Dr. Foley.
Through the MIGS program, Dr. Foley provides comprehensive care for women with conditions including uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, cervical incompetence and ovarian cysts, and offers the latest minimally invasive options for these conditions. Dr. Foley strives to provide a safer and more effective alternative to traditional open surgery by performing a vast majority of her procedures using laparoscopy or hysteroscopy.
"My philosophy is that all women deserve a high volume surgeon who has advanced surgical training in order to keep them the safest," she added.
Dr. Foley went on to say, "also, as a specialist in endometriosis, and uterine fibroids, ovarian masses, offering women local expertise is beneficial to them and their families. I am dedicated to evidence-based research and patient reported outcomes in order to give my patients the best quality of care that I can."
Dr. Foley says that MIGS procedures offer patients faster recovery time, less pain, smaller incisions, an early return to normal daily activities and a shorter hospital stay, among other benefits.
Patients are referred to Dr. Foley, one of two ways. Either a patient's gynecologist or their primary care provider, can refer them to her office. Alternatively, if they found Dr. Foley online, patients are more than welcome to self-refer.
Dr. Foley is seeing patients in the Providence area, and is performing surgeries at Women & Infants Hospital. To learn more contact us at (401) 274-1122ext. 42735.
