Feel Good in Your Body This Summer – Exactly as You Are

Written By: Women and Infants on June 30, 2025

With summer’s arrival comes the pressure to look a certain way. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to change your body to enjoy the season. You deserve to feel good in your body exactly as it is right now.

So, let’s shift the focus from how your body looks to how it feels, embracing a mindset of self-respect, inclusivity, and compassion for bodies of all sizes, shapes, and abilities.

What Helps You Feel Good in Your Body

  • Wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident:
Your body doesn’t need to “earn” the right to wear tank tops, swimsuits, or shorts. Wear what makes you feel good.
  • Moving your body in ways that bring joy:
Whether it's stretching, dancing, swimming, walking through the park, or simply resting when needed, all bodies deserve movement that feels good.
  • Listening to your body’s cues:
That includes rest, hydration, nourishing meals, and boundaries. Your body communicates with you all the time; tuning in is a powerful act of self-respect.
  • Practicing affirmations and self-kindness:
    Try gentle reminders like:
    1. “My worth is not tied to my size.”
    2. “I deserve joy and comfort in my body.”
    3. “This body carries me through life, and I choose to treat it with care.”
  • Surround yourself with body-diverse representation:
Follow social media accounts, read books, and watch content that reflects a range of bodies, including those of different sizes, races, genders, and abilities. Representation matters and shapes how we view ourselves.

Let it Go, What Doesn’t Help

  • Waiting to wear certain clothes “until I’m smaller”
Your size isn’t a prerequisite for enjoying fashion or comfort. You’re allowed to dress for the season you’re in.
  • Posting before-and-after photos tied to weight or appearance:
This can reinforce the idea that one version of your body is more valuable than another. Your body is worthy at every size and stage.
  • Exercising to punish yourself or “earn” food:
Movement shouldn’t be transactional. You don’t need to “burn off” what you eat. Your body needs fuel, care, and rest, without guilt.
  • Comparing your body to others:
Your journey, your health, and your needs are unique. There’s no “ideal” summer body – just your body, in summer.
