Supporting the general health and well-being of women of all ages at Women & Infants Hospital has been the primary objective of the Auxiliary since the hospital’s inception.
Today the Auxiliary continues in its mission as special benefactors providing compassion, education and financial support to hospital patients and the community at large.
The sale of baby photos, the Gift Shop, the Nursing Moms, Etc. store, the gala Storybook Ball and other fundraising efforts allow substantial contributions to purchase hospital equipment and furnishings and to promote general health and well-being for women and their children. For more information about Women & Infants Auxiliary please call the Auxiliary office at 401-274-1122, extension 42030.
Women & Infants Hospital offers shopping opportunities for patients, visitors and staff at our Gift Shop and at our Nursing Moms, Etc. store. Both of these stores will be happy to assist in your retail purchases and are able to deliver gifts directly to the patient rooms.
Women & Infants Hospital is pleased to bring our families the most up to date baby photo service. This service supplies the mother with a proof sheet of her baby the morning following birth. If photos are ordered by 10pm that night, the photo package will be delivered to the mother the following morning before she leaves the hospital. Babies can also be viewed by clicking on our Web Nursery "Baby Prints" icon on the opening page of our website section called For Patients and the Community. Security codes are needed to access specific baby pictures. Gift certificates are available for photo packages by calling 401-274-1122, extension 41740.
Established in 1892 as the Board of Lady Visitors, “twelve ladies of high social standing (were) elected for a year and expected to visit the hospital once a week, inspecting all departments and offering suggestions and criticisms.” As the years passed, the Board of Lady Visitors became a vital resource for the hospital, filling in as nurses when shortages occurred and keeping track of hospital expenses.
