Position Overview

Women & Infants volunteer program is comprised of people from the community who see the health care environment as a place where they can make a difference. Students will gain experience and exposure to careers in health care; however, this is not considered a job shadow program. Overall, our volunteers provide valuable customer service with patients, family members, and guests.

Unit Volunteer

Working as a unit volunteer you will be trained to transport patients, learn how to support the certified nursing assistants and unit secretaries. On the units you will be assisting the C.N.A with making beds, discharging patients, bringing beverages to patients and stocking patient rooms with supplies and delivering flowers as needed. You may be asked to support staff with some clerical duties, as well. You will not have any infant contact, nor will you be allowed to hold or feed the babies. In this role, we are looking for students who enjoy working in a patient care area, are able to follow direction and have solid interpersonal skills.

If you have excellent customer service skills and enjoy interacting with people of multi-cultural backgrounds, then this position is for you! You will be trained to assist patients, family members and guests to appropriate units or departments and answer basic questions about the hospital. You must enjoy working with people, making eye contact and have an engaging personality.
