Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) often leads to having a hysterectomy. Many times a women's preference for uterine preservation can influence their decision to undergo a hysterectomy if diagnosed with POP.There is little known about women's preferences for uterine preservation during treatment for pelvic organ prolapse. This study examines women's preferences for keeping or removing the uterus during treatment for prolapse across different geographical regions.Women's perceptions, attitudes, and knowledge regarding uterine preservation will be observed and described to improve POP treatment.

Patients who are eligible will be approached during their first visit to the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and asked to complete a questionnaire assessing their attitude toward uterine preservation before seeing their physician.

Your involvement would be a one time visit for approximately 10 minutes.
