Interstim therapy is a treatment option for women with overactive bladder who have already tried conservative treatments, including physical therapy or medication, without improvement in their symptoms. Currently, there are not many educational materials available for patients considering Interstim therapy. A physician from Women & Infants Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Surgery has created an educational video for patients, which describes the details of Interstim therapy and what a patient can expect before and after surgery.
Participants who are eligible will watch either the Women & Infants video or a video made by Medtronic, the company who makes the Interstim device. Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires before and after watching the video to determine how effective each video is in teaching the patient about Interstim therapy. Participants will also have the choice to watch the other video (they were not assigned to) and complete a brief questionnaire to indicate which video they preferred.
Your involvement would be a one time visit for approximately 45 minutes.
