Maureen G. Phipps, MD
is currently the interim chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the director of the Division of Research.
Dr. Phipps is the Principal Investigator on an NIH grant to study an intervention to prevent postpartum depression in adolescent mothers and is the co-PI for the Brown University National Children's Study Center.
She has directed the Brown University / Women & Infants Hospital National Center of Excellence in Women's Health (CoE) since 2003 and was awarded the Alpert Medical School "Dean's Award for the Advancement of Women Faculty" in April 2008 for her work leading the CoE effort.
Nationally, Dr. Phipps serves as Associate Editor for the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, as a member of the steering committee for the National Children's Study, and as chair of the ACOG Committee on Healthcare for Underserved Women.
Dr. Phipps' broad interest in women's health has been geared toward improving the health of underserved women. Her research and academic activities involve collaborations across departments, hospitals and state agencies.
