Non-Clinical College Internships - Volunteer Services

Internships are defined as a work experience for which you will be receiving course credit through a college, university or technical/ training program. These experiences usually involve a minimum of 10 hours per week in the hospital for the course of a semester. You must be entering your Junior or Senior year for this semester.

The deadline for applying for a summer internship has passed.

Timelines for Fall 2013 Internships:

Fall Semester

  • Submit internship specifications and resume by July 12, 2013
  • Placements will need to be finalized by July 26, 2013

If you are interested in applying for an internship at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, please email Volunteer Services at: volunteer@wihri.org with the specifications listed below and attach a copy of your resume. To consider your request we need all the following information along with your resume within the timeframe specified above. A personal interview is a mandatory component of the process.

  •     Dates of Internship: Start and end dates
  •     Number of weekly hours required
  •     Course Name
  •     Subject/ Field of study
  •     Overall Learning objectives (specify 2)
  •     No. of credits

If we have an internship that might suit your skills, interests and goals we will contact you to schedule an interview. You can expect to hear from us within 5- 7 business days when you submit your application by the deadlines outlined above.

If you are looking for hospital based experience for resume building or personal interest, without the credits, you should register for a Volunteer Interest Session to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the hospital.
