Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Physicians at Women & Infants Hospital deliver the vast majority of babies born each year in the region, making the hospital the twelfth largest stand alone obstetrical service in the United States. In addition to obstetrics, we also offer a wide range of gynecologic services for women.

Obstetrics Services
This is an exciting time for you. As southeastern New England's center for excellence in obstetrics, Women & Infants offers a comprehensive range of maternity services designed to provide comfort, privacy and complete family-centered care for expectant parents. The hospital features 19 labor/delivery/recovery rooms and an Alternative Birthing Center.
Specialty Services for Pregnant Women
This includes such specialty services as:

Behavioral Medicine Some pregnant and postpartum women experience psychiatric conditions and require specialized treatment in a comfortable setting.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic  Women whose pregnancies require closer monitoring can be referred to this clinic where specialists are trained to provide an additional level of care to achieve the best possible outcome for mother and baby. Services offered in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinic include high-risk obstetrical care, medical consultation and services for women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes as well as those who develop diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes).

Obstetric and Consultative Medicine Our specialists in this division, care for women with medical issues when they become pregnant.

Prenatal Diagnosis Center (PDC)  The PDC offers sophisticated diagnostic evaluation for pregnant women and their fetuses. The PDC provides specialized services and testing, comprehensive screen, fetal assessment and genetic counseling to help you and your physician better understand your pregnancy. Tests include level II ultrasounds, amniocentesis, integrated screening test and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
Antenatal Care Unit
Women & Infants has a 30-bed inpatient unit that offers a constellation of specialty services in high-risk obstetrics that is unique in the region. Women with high-risk pregnancies may be admitted to the 30-bed Antenatal Care Unit for additional care.

Gynecological Services
In addition to obstetrical services, Women & Infants also offers a full range of services and programs for women of all ages.
These include:

Breast Health Center Specialists can treat women with any breast-related concern, including breast pain, rashes, and breast cancer.

Center for Reproduction and Infertility Specialists care for women facing infertility, menopausal symptoms, endometriosis, fallopian tube damage, hormonal problems, and sexual dysfunction.

Center for Women's Gastrointestinal Services Our group of all female specialists/practitioners offers a multi-disciplinary focus on problems with the female gastrointestinal system.

Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Specialists and providers care for women suffering with incontinence, genital prolapse, and sexual dysfunction.

Program in Women's Oncology The largest oncology program in New England dedicated to the care of women, the Program provides the full range of resources for the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical oncology and gynecological oncology in women. Genetic counseling is also available.
» Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program

The Menopause Program - A multidisciplinary team works together to promote the health and quality of life for all women during midlife and beyond through an understanding of menopause and healthy aging.

Women & Infants' Health Education Department provides new parents with a toll-free telephone support system. Staffed by professional nurses, it offers helpful information regarding new baby, breastfeeding and postpartum issues.

The Warm Line is available weekdays from 9am to 9pm and weekends from 9am to 5pm.  Call 1-800-711-7011.
