Nutrition Services  Nutrition Services
All Women & Infants' patients are screened for nutritional risk as part of their initial patient assessment, both in the outpatient and inpatient areas. For patients who are at nutritional risk, an appropriate interdisciplinary plan of care will be determined. The nutrition care provided to the patients will be further investigated by comprehensive assessment and an appropriate nutrition care plan will be implemented.
Nutritional Therapy and Education
Patients may receive nutrition intervention upon personal request. Medical nutrition therapy and education are available, but not limited to:
  • Diabetes during pregnancy
  • Hypertension
  • Gastrointestinal disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's Disease, Colitis, Celiac Disease, Pancreatitis
  • Diet during cancer treatment
  • Food allergies
  • Hyperemesis
  • Eating disorders
  • Weight loss/gain program

Rhode Island Network for Pelvic Floor Disorders at W&I

This network has been created to provide state-of-the art diagnosis and therapy for women with pelvic floor disorders. The Rhode Island Network provides a comprehensive service that includes both clinical care and organizational oversight.

Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Staff

Donna DeCiccio, RD, LDN, CNSD
is the Chief Dietitian at Women & Infants and also the Director of Nutrition Service for The Program in Women's Oncology. She is a long standing dietitian at the Hospital, who manages patient food services and practices in clinical nutrition patient care with a specialty in aggressive nutrition support. Donna can be reached at 401-274-1122, ext 1530.

Jessica Baye, RD, LDN is our clinical inpatient dietitian who provides nutrition services and consultations for all adult patient units. She also coordinates concurrent patient satisfaction surveys and is responsible for immediate intervention to ensure that patients needs are exceeded. Jessica can be reached at 401-274-1122, ext 1523.

Lauren Solomon, RD, LDN is our clinical outpatient dietitian who provides all outpatient nutrition counseling at The Program in Women's Oncology and at the Day Hospital. She also teaches a weekly Weight Loss Program for patients. Lauren can be reached at 401-274-1122, ext 7272.

Hours
The Food & Nutrition department is staffed daily from 6am-8pm.
Our department includes Maude's Café (cafeteria) whose hours are:

Third shift: 2:30am-5am
Breakfast: 6:30am-10:15am
Lunch: 11am-1:45pm (Mon-Fri); 11:15-1:15pm (Weekends & Holidays)
After lunch: 1:15-4:30pm
Dinner: 4:30pm-7:30pm

Vending machines are located on the main level of the Hospital, near the Triage area.
