About Women & Infants’ South Pavilion
In September 2009, Women & Infants opened the South Pavilion, featuring the nation’s largest, single-family room NICU. The single-family room design, the future of NICU care, fosters an environment that is sensitive to the needs of the baby and promises to have a profound effect on the recovery, growth and long-term outcome of a tiny infant. The five-story addition represents a new era in construction, focused on sustainability. Women & Infants is one of the first hospitals in the Northeast to open a “green” building, and the hospital is proud to have received Gold Certification through the U.S. Green Building Council through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program.
