Back to Nursing at Women & Infants
Our 45-bed gynecologic unit admits patients for general, gynecologic or oncological surgeries. In addition, we treat medical oncology patients and administer chemotherapy on the unit.
Nurses on this unit provide postpartum care to patients whose babies have died or who are being given up for adoption, as well as mothers whose babies have been admitted to the NICU or Special Care Nursery.
Orientation for nurses on this unit ranges from six to 10 weeks, depending on your evaluated expertise and experience. You will take relevant classes and undergo a precepted clinical orientation as you become competent in caring for the medical-surgical patients cared for on this unit.
Within the first year on the gynecologic unit, you will also become chemotherapy certified through an in-hospital program that consists of classroom and clinical education.
