Support Groups

When you are experiencing a change in your life with pregnancy or have added stress due to illness, there is nothing more beneficial than meeting other women who are dealing with similar issues. Women & Infants offers a variety of support groups for bereavement, cancer patients, new or expectant parents, and general health to meet the many needs of our community and our patients. For more information on any of the support groups, call the number with the description listed below or call the Center for Health Education nearest you at 401-276-7800, ext. 114.

New or Expectant Parents Support Groups:

New Mothers' Group
An informal way to meet with other new mothers to share the new experiences of parenting. Groups meet weekly in the following locations:

  • Wednesdays, 10am-12pm; Health Education Department, 134 Thurbers Avenue, Suite 201 Providence.

Postpartum Adjustment Group
For those women who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression after the birth of their baby, this group meets the first and third Tuesday of the month from 6pm-8pm in the Health Education Department at 100 Dudley Street, Providence.  For more information call the Warm Line at 800-711-7011.

Miscarriage, Infant Death & Stillbirth (M.I.S.) Group
Meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7:00 pm at the Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay Street, Providence, 401- 274-1122, extension 4049. Click here to view the M.I.S./P.A.L.S. website.

Pregnancy After Loss (P.A.L.S.) Support Group
This support group is for women who are pregnant following a loss and would like to share their fears and concerns with other women. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay Street, Providence, 401-274-1122, ext. 4049. Click here to view the M.I.S./P.A.L.S. website.

Support, Healing & Reflection (SHARE)
For those who have ended a pregnancy due to the detection of a problem in their developing baby. This support group meets the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Social Work Department at Women & Infants.

Women's Health /General Health Support Groups

Reiki Support Group
This support group is for those who have completed the Reiki First and/or Second Degree workshops. Meets monthly at the Center for Health Education in East Greenwich or Woonsocket. For further information call 401-276-7800, ext. 114.

Expressive Therapies Support Group
Experience guided meditation and hands-on art class to help transform feelings and emotions into images that help us find meaning through symbolic representation.
Every Wednesday, 10am-11:30am (2nd floor)
