William Sikov, MD, a physician with the Breast Health Center at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, has created a bicycling team to participate in the Ride ‘Round Rhody fundraising event to support cancer research trials at the hospital.
The eighth annual event is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, 2016. Riders can choose between 25- and 75-mile routes, both of which start and end at The Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingston and wind through country roads in South County. To date, Ride ‘Round Rhody has raised more than $300,000 to support cancer research and patient care in Rhode Island.
“This is a significant fundraiser because this money stays right in Rhode Island,” Dr. Sikov explains. “We would be delighted to have support – whether biking as part of our team, volunteering to help out with the ride, or just being there to cheer us on!”
He has organized a team from the Program in Women’s Oncology and its Breast Health Center. Riders can register to join the team, called the WIHPWO Power Cyclists, at https://www.crowdrise.com/wihpwo-power-cyclists/fundraiser. Training rides will be organized and team leaders will be in touch with all registered riders with information.
