Construction Central
In May of 2007, Women & Infants broke ground on a five-story addition that will add approximately 140,000 square feet of much-needed space to the Dudley Street facility. The space will include a new, two-story neonatal intensive care unit that gives each family their own private space, and more beds for obstetrical patients.

Built to accommodate 6,500 births each year, the hospital recorded almost 10,000 births in 2006. Its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), designed to treat 41 babies at a time, routinely houses as many as 75 babies.
