National Center of Excellence- Outstanding Faculty Mentor Recognition Award

To recognize mentoring as a valuable resource for career development, the Brown University / Women & Infants Hospital National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health is highlighting outstanding mentors on a quarterly basis.

Nominations will be accepted at any time.

Eligibility:
Nominees for the Outstanding Mentor Recognition Award must be actively engaged in the mentorship of clinical, research or teaching faculty at Brown University in the Division of Biology and Medicine. Mentors will need to have provided mentoring support to a minimum of two mentees for a period of two years or more. Eligible nominees can be hospital-based or campus-based faculty members with an academic, clinical or clinical voluntary appointment in the medical school.

Criteria:
Nominees should have:

  • demonstrated commitment to the career goals of a mentees
  • successfully indicated that he or she values the professional skills of the mentees
  • served as an advocate for mentees in regards to administrative, organizational and procedural concerns
  • made a commitment to the promotion of mentees
  • assisted in the development of the mentees’ professional talents, in the arenas of clinical care, research or teaching
  • assisted mentees in navigating the professional environment in which he or she works

To submit a mentor for the award, please send a brief narrative in the form of an e-mail or letter describing why you are nominating the mentor. The letters will be evaluated by the CoE directors to determine who will be highlighted each quarter.

Please note: We may publish an edited version of the nomination letter.

Award:
Awardees will be recognized and highlighted in the quarterly Faculty Update publication and will receive a certificate from the Center of Excellence in Women’s Health.
