Women & Infants is proud to have been selected to host two Centers of Excellence.
Center of Excellence in Women's Health
In October 2003, Brown University and Women & Infants Hospital were designated a National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Center of BioMedical Research Excellence
The Center is dedicated to improving the health and health care for all women by working with academic and community partners and collaborating with public and private health care providers throughout the state.
In September 2003, Women & Infants Hospital was awarded one of the largest grants in its nearly 120-year institutional history. The five-year, nearly $9 million Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant was awarded by the National Institutes of Health.
This grant supports Women & Infants’ basic studies of perinatal heart and lung development, the development of the next generation of physician scientists, and compliments the benefits conferred by Women & Infants' development of the Kilguss Research Institute.
